This has been posted on various torrent sites. If it passes in the US, the rest of the world will follow unfortunately... (ok maybe not those rebel scandanavian countries, which is where i'll be moving to!)

Quote by Malicious Actually China's government censors their internet heavily from what I understand. So yes...they could. Basically if a site like Youtube violates a copyright (which happens often) then the government would just deny access for Americans. If MC is found too offensive then *poof* we can no long access it. the main reason china censors the internet is because their communists

Google moved out of China and relocated to Hong Kong because of China's pressure censoring the internet. In Germany we already have a internet blacklist for kid porn websites, what is actually a good thing. The problem is that the section of the government can decide by their own what sites will be blocked and people fear that they could also start blocking any other websites

Exactly Hai. We've seen the extremes that they can take their censoring to with other things in the US. And Confucius...I actually don't send chainmail letters on facebook. I hate them. But this is a legitimate issue that is not news to anyone using torrent sites or even Facebook on a normal basis.

For the record I've received no emails from outside parties since signing their petition. I did however receive this. - thanks again for signing our petition to stop the Internet blacklist bill (COICA). We're making a huge difference: in just the first week, we've gotten nearly 200,000 signatures and sent over 5000 calls to Congress. Amazing! The bill's proponents are running scared. They've told journalists we should just trust the government and that our complaints are "paralyzing the legislative process." Well, good! They originally wanted to ram this bill through committee in just a week -- now they've been forced to hold it until after the election. And when I signed it was at about 160,000 signatures. Please keep passing this along.
