So every time I play drums, i've noticed that my left ear gets hot while my right ear is cold. Is there anyone on here that knows why this happens? Is it just me? Feel free to move this to off-topic even tho ppl rarely read it. |

It might be a tumor. |

no fan involved, just wondering if it has anything to do with increased brain lobe activity over another side or something I shit you not, when I play, my left ear feels like its been in a tanning bed while my right ear was skiing There has to be a medical explanation for this |

You might be developing psychic powers that are triggered by the emotions of playing the drums. |

interesting thought, but i'm not sold. Swear on my life i'm not making this up. Its probably nothing to worry about but i'm telling you, it's weird as hell. Maybe the left side of my brain has to work harder than the right side or something so more blood gets pumped to that side. I didn't figure anyone here could answer it but I hoped someone would |

Ok, there is no breeze affecting anything. When I play, I get worked up. Left ear feels super hot while the right is always cold. I don't play in a breezy doorway for fuck sake, lets just chalk this one up as, nobody has an answer. It's just one of those things where you ask yourself, "should I even bring this up to my doctor?" I just hoped there may be a player out there that could possibly know what caused this. |

Well Aaron...in all honesty I think you may have something with the brain theory. Your blood is pumping when you play so with everything flowing and your brain working harder on the creative side...more blood would be flowing on that side where your ear heats up. |

I think the answer to my question is along these lines, maybe the creative side working harder and requiring increased blood flow. Thx Demon |

It is very common for a man's body temperature to change while drumming. During drumming, a man's metabolism speeds up, which causes his body to create additional heat. To help to cope with this, a man's body temperature actually decreases over the course of the drumming session , to keep his base temperature from rising as his metabolic rate rises. The rise in metabolic rate is also part of the reason that he will need to take in extra calories during drumming. ^^simple fluctuations in body temperature ...... that's really about pregnant women btw haha but ya gotta admit it sounds right |
