You could bring it over to me and I'll fix it for free... It would be cheaper for the bus ticket than it would to have Freak Squad charge $200 for 30 minutes of work. |

I took it to geek squad and they said the same thing. But a place called computer hospital fixed it for 50$. Is your antivirus up to date/did it shut your antivirus down. |

Get anti-malware and run it. Should iron out most of the problems. If its a "Smart" Virus, (one that resists or shuts down your virus protection) you may need to take it in. But, this should work... I recommend http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button |

A Malware program isn't going to fix a virus. A virus is much worse than that panzy malware bullshit. People use malware to install viruses, trojans, worms and so forth. All Freak Squad will do is back up valuable data and reformat the drive/drives. Which is by far the easiest way to resolve said issue. If you didn't have antivirus programs at the time the PC was infected then installing one more than likely won't get rid of the problem because the virus/worm/trojan has dug itself in and attached to a program that won't be detected by antivirus software. I would simply back up any pics/movies/music that you want to keep on cd's or DVD's or on an external hard drive. Only keeping what you cannot replace easily and then reformat the computer leaving a blank drive/drives and reinstall the OS. As I said, I could do it for free being that I have a copy of each Vista, Windows 7, XP and even win9x and ME.... As well as Several Linux releases, Mac releases and a few that no one has ever heard of. As a matter of fact, if I were to get my hands on that computer, it would run better than it ever has by the time I'm done with it... Want free games? I have them. Want free applications? I have them. Want more movies than you know what to do with? I have them. Music... Name a genre and I'll tell you how many gigs of it I have. Det.... Just come visit, brotha'. I'll hook you up for a couple of j's and a 40. |

It simply searches your registry, highlights files that may possibly infected, and allows you to remove them. |

HijackThis only works if you really know how to use it... In most cases people download it, run it and end up with a lot of broken programs because they deleted the registry entries for the programs... Yes, the virus is gone, but so is Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, Firefox and several others. |
